The Craigslist Stimulus Plan

Craigslist Job CircusCraigslist can really be a circus of laughs when scanning job postings in the Art/Design/Media section. You will find scads of potential employers looking for complicated work that takes dozens upon dozens of hours to complete, for 8 bucks and hour or a whopping flat rate of $150. The temptation for me is to laugh and point, but what the H is really going on when business people completely fail to understand that goods and services cost money? Have they not paid vendors for supplies, attorneys for contracts or CPAs for tax filings? Don’t said business people want others to pay them for their goods and services?

My initial urge to howl at those unbelievable postings is always overtaken by offense. Did professionals like myself go to college and spend years cutting our teeth in the industry to be offered what wouldn’t cover the cost of a transit pass in most big cities? Judging from the responses peppered throughout the job listings, people like me are NOT laughing. The screenshot I’ve embedded here is the most gentle response to the lowball job posters I’ve EVER seen on Craigslist.

Honestly, Craigslist job posters, stimulate the economy by paying what goods and services actually cost.
